Soccer Updates

6/28/21 - Last night, our men's team won 3 to 1 over AFC Dobes to complete the MMSL Spring Division I schedule with a 3 win 5 loss and 2 tie record.. This may seem humble but compared to a fall season record of 1 win 8 losses and 1 tie, it was a big improvement. Four of the five losses were by one goal and with any luck, we would have had a winning record and a place in the playoffs. I am very pleased with the job our coach Len Vandegraff has done and with the efforts of our players. Keep in mind, we play in the first division of the Maryland Major Soccer League which is one of the most competitive leagues not only in Maryland but in the Country, The adults also had a MSSA cup record of 3 wins and 3 losses and our Over 40 team won second place in the Over 40 State Tournament and a place in the regionals. Hopefully we can continue to improve.

The Youth team finished the spring season with a 2 win, 3 loss and 1 tie record but played many games with just enough players since a lot of the boys on the team also play lacrosse and the schedules conflicted. However, they did will their last game over the league champion by a score of 3 to 0. In the fall, our Youth were very successful finishing tied for first in their league with a 6 win, 1 loss and 1 tie record. They also played in two tournaments and with a combined record of 2 wins, 3 losses and a tie. Kevin Clark is their coach and does a great job with the young men.

Let me say also that both adults and youth had to deal with COVID measures all season which made the overall logistics of playing a soccer game difficult. But we decided to play our schedules despite pressures not to do so because myself and the coaches decided we needed to push on and try and keep things as close to normal as possible. My thanks to their efforts and the players and parents for the contributions and support all season. I hope we are back to somewhat normal in the fall!
